Do teleconverters really work well?
I have a Nikon D70 and am looking for a way to get closer to the action I have a sigma 100-300mm, using a 2x teleconverter will get me what I need but do they really work. I have also noticed there are two different kinds on the attaches between the camera and lenses and one that attaches at the end of the lenses, which is better. Do I have to buy Nikon or can I go with another brand.
Yes They work well at least Nikon teleconverters do, but remember you will lose 2 f stops of light, and the auto focus needs at least a f5.6 to work (not just Nikon). Meaning that the lens in front needs to be F2.8 or faster for the auto focus too work.
Teleconverters fit between the glass and the camera. I never heard of one going on the front?
No it don’t have to be a Nikon but I don’t know how well Image will be.
This was taken with a Nikon TC-201 and a 300 f4 Nikkor.
